Scouts Badge WorkshopIISuperior is excited to continue offering our most popular Boy Scout Cooking Merit Badge Workshops.

Scout Troops of all varieties are coming to Superior to fulfill some of their merit badge requirements. We offer a fun and interactive “Cooking Merit Badge” Workshops which covers all the bases of most cooking merit badge obligations. Some of the activities that will be covered during the workshop include:

For the new Cooking merit badge, which became Eagle-required on Jan. 1, 2014, Scouts will prepare meals using the MyPlate food guide, understand and explain food allergies, and learn about cooking food indoors.

The Cooking merit badge introduces principles of cooking that can be used both at home or in the outdoors. Scouts who earn this badge will learn about food safety, nutritional guidelines, meal planning, and methods of food preparation, and will review the variety of culinary (or cooking) careers available.

Cooking merit badges to become Eagle-required- Some of the activities that will be covered during the workshops include:

  • Kitchen Safety & Food Handling Examples of food groups & recommended daily serving sizes from each group as recommended using the new food pyramid
  • Recipe preparation using proper techniques and procedures
  • Recipe nutrition and camping modifications
  • Meal Planning – Planning a full meal including nutritional information and grocery lists
  • Pricing & estimation of total meal costs Optional extension suggestions to meet further requirements.

Girl Scouts

Scouts Badge WorkshopSCC is excited to continue offering workshops that are based on Girl Scout Badges and Leadership Journeys. Superior is offering a wonderful opportunity for the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Wisconsin to earn their Cook Badges by participating in super fun, super educational cooking classes! We also offer customized classes if you’re just looking for a unique activity for your troop to participate in. Call or email for more information!

Our Girl Scout Cooking Workshop is designed to give budding chefs the opportunity to learn a variety of cooking methods which will emphasize safety, nutrition and great meals. This workshop covers most food and kitchen safety and nutritional aspects.  Some of the activities which will be covered during the interactive workshop include:

  • Kitchen Safety & Food Handling
  • Examples of food groups and recommended daily serving sizes, (as recommended by using the new food pyramid)
  • Recipe preparation using proper techniques and procedures
  • Meal Planning, planning a full meal, including nutritional information and grocery lists
  • Prepare a meal, hand on with a professional chef

SCC also offers Girl Scout Journey Workshops! Please call us today at 414.671.1200 to customize your Journey and to discuss dates, times, and pricing. Private Journey Workshops must be booked two weeks prior to the requested Workshop date.

The fee per participant is $35.  All registrations require a 50% down payment with the balance to be paid on the day of the class.  The 50% deposit is non refundable and non-transferable as of 14 days, (2 weeks) before the first day of the class. Minimum number of participants is 12. (Cost includes ALL of the recipes, ingredients, supplies, & materials needed)

Our parking area can accommodate bus transportation, and our building is handicapped accessible.

Your troop is guaranteed to have a great time while learning important skills. Parents/guardians are welcome to watch the Workshop free of charge but not required to stay. For questions about Workshop content and activities, or to set up your own private Workshop, please call the Scout Coordinator at 414.671.1200. A minimum of 12 participants is required for a private Workshop.

Cancellation Policy In order to reserve your spot, you must either call the Reservations Department at 414.671.1200 or click here to register online. If you have not paid in full within two weeks of the Workshop you will lose your reservation.

  1. In order to receive a full refund for any registration YOU cancel, the cancellation must be received at least ten (10) days before the start of the Workshop.
  2. Cancellations received less than ten (10) days before the Workshop start date, but before the class start date, will be granted Superior Culinary Center programming credit equivalent to 75% of tuition, not including any material fees.
  3. A cancellation received on or after the Workshop start date will receive no refund or credit. A Workshop can be cancelled if it does not meet the minimum attendance threshold. In the event that fewer Girl Scouts register than is required for a class to take place, Superior will notify parents of this situation before the start date and offer alternative classes or refunds. All final registration decisions will be made no later than five (5) days before the Workshop start date.
